EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

The Bergen County Zoo is a small, approximately 15 acre, zoological park located in Paramus, New Jersey. Our educators strive to provide high-quality, relevant, scientifically accurate education programs using audience-appropriate techniques. Through these programs, we aim to increase our audience’s knowledge of and empathy towards animals and their habitats, and through this knowledge and empathy, we strive to inspire our audience to make informed, deliberate choices in their lives to preserve the natural world.

Per Diem and Seasonal educators report to full-time education staff and their primary responsibility is the teaching of curriculum to both private and public groups. Another essential function is performing all duties necessary to provide our guests with outstanding Amphitheater experiences and Birthday Parties, therefore per diem and seasonal educators may work weekends and/or nights. Per Diem educators work 19 hours per week while Seasonal educators may work 29 or 40 hours per week.
